Inicio Lore & Information

Every story begins
with someone.

YOUR NEXT CHAPTER

Arrive with a past. Leave your mark on the island. Create someone who belongs in Oulbury’s world, and discover what the fog has waiting for them.

A PERSON BEFORE A MYSTERY.

Not everyone comes to Oulbury looking for answers. Some come for work, for love, for a fresh beginning. Others arrive hoping to leave something behind. Oulbury is a living, present-day world shaped by old folklore, forgotten histories, and the ordinary people caught between them.

You don’t need to create a hero. You don’t need a tragic past or extraordinary abilities. Give us someone believable. Someone with desires, contradictions, fears, and a life that might change when it touches someone else’s. The best stories are rarely the ones we plan alone.

Start with someone who wants something, fears something and has room to change. A believable character with imperfect answers will find more stories than an invincible one.

AN ADULT COMMUNITY

Oulbury is a 21+ roleplay community. Both players and characters must be 21 or older. Please read our community rules before applying.

ISLAND TRAITS

A small detail that makes your character their own. An Island Trait is a small, distinctive quality connected to your character and their place in Oulbury. It might be an unusual sensitivity, a peculiar talent, a personal quirk or a subtle, unsettling phenomenon. Human and supernatural characters may each have one Island Trait, subject to staff approval. A human character’s trait can remain entirely mundane. The best traits grow from the person you are creating: their personality, habits, fears, experiences or relationship with the island. They give other players something to notice, respond to or build a scene around.

✨

Keep it small, specific and limited.

A useful trait creates an opportunity for roleplay while leaving the outcome open. Think about what it does, when it happens, where its limits are and how it might complicate your character’s life.

For example, a character might be unusually good at putting people at ease. Whether another character feels comfortable, or chooses to share anything, still belongs to that character’s player.

✨

Example of an island trait.

People sometimes find this character remarkably easy to talk to. Their patient silences and gentle manner can make an ordinary conversation feel unexpectedly personal.

This does not compel trust, reveal lies or force anyone to share information. Other players decide how their characters respond. The complication is that this character often becomes involved in problems they never intended to take on.

✨

How to write your own

Describe your trait using these prompts:

  • Name: What do you call it?

  • Effect: What can your character actually experience or do?

  • Trigger: When or under what circumstances does it happen?

  • Limits: What can it never reveal, change or accomplish?

  • Complication: How might it be unreliable, inconvenient or difficult to explain?

A few clear sentences are enough.

Tell us who is arriving.

A few thoughtful answers are enough. We're not looking for perfect prose or a finished novel. We want to understand the person you're bringing into our world, and the stories they might create with others.Your application will be reviewed privately by the Oulbury team.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Once your application is submitted, our team will review it for consistency with Oulbury’s lore and community guidelines.

We may contact you in Second Life or Discord to ask questions or suggest small adjustments.

Approval is the beginning of your character’s journey, not the end of their story.

We’ll see you through the fog.
